Welcome to Misery Plains, formerly iMango! Started back in 2007, Misery Plains (or MP for short) has come a very long ways! Starting off as a strictly Wolf Fantasy-Based Roleplay, Misery Plains has grown to become more than that! Inviting all forms of Canines, and eventually all forms of animals! Here at Misery Plains, we supply Semi-Liturate Roleplay Forms with Large, Small and Mini-Plots alike! With no set level for roleplaying, it helps invite people to better their skills, and make friends in an easy-go atmosphere. The only requests is that users are REQUIRED to make roleplaying posts of at least 100 words, and follow the rules.
The days grow shorter, as nights come quickly, and mornings stay dark. Leaves litter the ground in marvelous colors, a sure steady sign of mating season is soon to come. The weather is a bitter wind enough to chill any wolf to the bone, sunny skies with whispy clouds about. Temperatures range from freezing in the early mornings, to high 40's mid-day, and back to below freezing during night. Large prey is usually found migrating towards the West, disappearing until long after Winter has passed. After they leave Misery Plains, food sources will become limited to small prey, winter dwelling animals, and winter fruit. Most birds have left by now.

Emotions through Gesture And Information On Wolves « Thread Started on Jun 4, 2009, 6:44pm »
Wolven Emotion Expressed through Gestures
Wolven will most generally express their emotions or express what they feel through gestures, stances, or body positions. Many things that a wolf does will show other wolves what they are feeling. Some of these stances include the use of their Face, Ears, Fur, General Body, Legs and Tail.
Tail
[x] Tail raised above the body, usually stiff. Alpha Wolves usually display this tail gesture to show other wolves that they are the dominate wolf. Also shows confidence. [x] Tail Fully Raised above the body, in a swaying motion. Wolves that oppose the alpha wolf will show this gesture. Usually used when one wolf enters another wolf's territory and wished to challenge the Alpha. [x] Tail Resting Low, with a slight Curl at the Tip. A wolf will display this when it is uncertain of another wolf's intentions, Usually displayed because the wolf doesn't know if another wolf is trying to play, being aggressive, or attempting to fight. [x] Tail slightly raised, but not high enough to be over the body. Defensive stance. Usually showing another wolf they are willing to fight or defend them selves. Not used by Alphas. [x]Tail lowered, curled around the Outside of the Leg. Submissive posture, used by wolves that are a rank lower than the alpha. Such ranks include Fighting wolves, Beta Wolves, and such ranks. [x]Tail Lowered Between the Legs. Full submission always used by Omega wolves, pups, loners and new pack members. Also used by higher ranking wolves to show apology to the Alpha. [x]Tail Gently Resting, usually loose and sometimes wagging. All wolves will show this when either relaxing, observing, or just being in th company of other wolves. Relaxed pose. [x]Tail Hung Low, and Limp with no Curl at the End. A Defeated wolf will show this pose when they have lost a battle or argument. Also, wolves will show this when they are sad.

General Information About Wolves
Wolves vary in sizes, shapes, colors, and species. With there being over 20 Species and Sub-Species of wolves recorded world wide. Wolves have been found in different geographical areas like Deserts, Forests, Tundras, Islands, and Plains. They have also been found in areas that are secluded to the point where that specific area had developed its own unique species of wolf, with its own special features. In the general wolf world, Sexual dimorphism occours between the males and females. Sexual dimorphism is the term for when the Male of the species is generally more larger than the female of the same species. Male Wolves typically tend to desplay more broad, higher shoulders, while females have less broad forheads, more slim snouts, and more fur upon the body. Reguardless if the wolf is a male or female, its tail alone will equal 1/4 of the wolf's total body length. Wolves are easy to distinguish from other species related to them. One of the many ways to tell the difference is the wolf's long, powerful muzzles that can reach a bite of 1400 PSI, twice that from a German Sheppard, or a PitBull. Another feature is the wolf's very important feet. The size help distribute weight, with the back being smaller than the front. While the back feet have four "Toes", where the two middle are "Connected", the front feet have five toes, with something equivilant to that of a human thumb with a nail called a "Dew Claw". In between the wolf's toes are sent glands that secreat the wolf's sent, used to mark territory wherever they may walk. Because of the vast climate areas, and tempurature ranges, a wolf must relly on its coat. Ranging from Deserts, to Frozen areas, all wolves will have two coats. An Undercoat, that is used for insulation from heat or cold, and a top coat that is made of tough hair that repels water and dirt. Wolves usually shed anywhere from spring to summer, and have the intellegence to use objects to brush the fur from their bodies. It is not uncommon for wolves in a pack to all have the same coat color, or a dominate color, even if they are of species whom have multiple colors in their genes. An important factor to this is wovles living in certain areas will have a certain coat color. This refers to White wolves will generally live in areas of Snowwy areas, and Black wolves would more generally live in forests. To scientist's surprizes, the color "Black" upon a wolf is a genetic mutation introduced into wolves by Domesticated dogs inbreeding, then interbreeding with wolves, resulting in the black gene mutation in later generations. Single, or "Lone Wolves" are occasional, where the vast majority of wolves are seen in packs. Usually these "Loners" are older wolves whom have been kicked out of their pack, or young wolves in search of new love, and territory of its own. When a wolf does take claim to its own territory the area will be around 200 km large. The wolves will spend around 50% of their time in a specific area, and the other 50% of the time is spent in various other palces on the territory searching for food. When a pack shares a boarder with another pack, they tend to stray away from those areas. Wolves will generaly feel upon Ungulants, Hoofed Animals, in addition to various shrubs, berries, and non-ungulants like Salmon, Rabbits, Birds, and smaller Animals. It is not rare for a wolf to have commit Canibalism toward an enemy wolf, or a wolf of its own pack. When hunting, wolves go through no specific routine, but will stratigize when hunting large prey. Females are better suited to continue chase, while males are better at wrestling prey. Reguardless, all wolves can reach speeds of 40 Miles Per Hour during chase. When prey is caught, the Breeding Pair, or Alphas, will eat first, then Intermediates, and then the lower ranking. If times are tough, a wolf can go 2 weeks with no food substance, and will show no signs of fatigue. A Female wolf will reach Sexual Maturity at around 22 months, and at this time will leave her pack to find a mate. The season of mating will range from January to April, and the higher the altitude the later the mating season. After mating, the mother can expect to have a gestation period of 60 through 63 days. Wolves are mostly monogamous beings, so a wolf can expect to have the same mother and father as the other pack members. Before Birth, the female might seek an area best suited to her needs for a den. She may create a den, or in tough times use an old one. The she-wolf will resist eating, post-birth. At birth, a cub can expect to weigh no more than one pound, be deaf, and blind. They will feed around four to five times a day. At weeks two to three, their eyes open, revealing a cloudy blue with not very good sight. They can stand, walk, growl, begin to howl, and will begin to grow baby teeth. Between weeks four and five, the mother will begin to leave the den more, will weigh 5-6 lbs, and begin to grow adult fur on the face. At 8-16 weeks, they will be moved from the den, fully weaned, follow the adults when they hunt, and their eyes turn from the blue to its adult color. Four and Eight months old, the baby teeth will be replaced, they begin to accompany hunts, and during this time they will learn to hunt. The next, and final stage of a Pup's life is Sexual Maturity; their first stage into adult hood.
